Guwahati,October 21 : The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti ( KMSS) today vowed that it will not accept the Citizenship ( Amendment) Bill, 2016, which proposes to grant citizenship to religious minorities from Bangladesh. Around 5,000 KMSS members and supporters along with intellectuals, writers and representatives of various organisations attended a mass convention near Lakhidhar Bora Khetra here. Akhil Gogoi sent to 14 days judicial custody for allegedly inciting violence

KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi was on Tuesday sent to 14 days judicial custody by the Kaliabor sub-division judicial magistrate court for allegedly instigating public during an eviction drive in Kaziranga on September leading to the death of two protesters during police firing. The KMSS leader was sent to the Nagaon Jail. The court’s decision came in connection with three cases filed against Akhil at the Jakhalabandha police station.
