A local court in North Lakhimpur today sent Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti leader Akhil Gogoi to fourteen days’ judicial custody. Gogoi was already in judicial custody at Lakhimpur after being arrested on charges of in connection with a case registered against him in 2011. KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi was on Tuesday sent to 14 days judicial custody by the Kaliabor sub-division judicial magistrate court for allegedly instigating public during an eviction drive in Kaziranga on September leading to the death of two protesters during police firing. The KMSS leader was sent to the Nagaon Jail. The court’s decision came in connection with three cases filed against Akhil at the Jakhalabandha police station.
