There are just a few days left for the publication of the draft National Register of Citizens. Amidst such situation, Jamiat chief Arshad Madani’s statement sparks controversy among the people in Assam.

According to several news reports, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind president Arshad Madani alleged that BJP wants lakhs of Muslims excluded from the NRC.

At a meeting organized by Delhi Action Committee for Assam in New Delhi on 13th November, Arshad Madani said that the government wanted to create a Rohingiyalike condition in the state.

According to a news report, Three cases have already been registered against Madani. Madani’s statement is now under scanner. Police are examining Madani’s statement to determine if he had said anything objectionable that could risk the peace and security in the state.

Netizens are expressing anger over the statement of the Jamiat leader.
