AGP demands two more berths in Assam cabinet

Following a decision which was taken in an executive committee meeting at party headquarter in Ambari, The Asom Gana Parishad on Tuesday has demanded two more members from the party in the state ministry, during the soon expected expansion of the State Cabinet.
It can be mentioned that the Assam cabinet currently has 11 ministers—7 from the BJP, 2 from ally AGP and 2 from ally BPF. As per Article 72 of the Constitution, the number of ministers in the state cabinet cannot exceed 15% of the total number of members in the state legislative assembly.Assam has 126 legislative assembly members and the maximum number of ministers allowed is 19.
